New Fable: The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo

image.png
In Midrath, not all shored shipwrecks are empty. Soon, they will carry the path to our newest Fable: The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo.
A blue ribbon hangs from the shipwreck's splinter. A storm from the past, a heart tempered true. Have you the gall to invoke The Duelo?
Wield Navalha, our new rapier, and enter into the Duelo to uncover the story of our newest Ancestor: Mestra Carmo, the Siren of Coral Graves and finest swordstress of the Duelo. Once commander of the Blue Ribbon and her phantom crew, she found freedom beyond the duty that once bound her.
By the sea she strums her guitar, content to play unfettered from all she used to be.
Collect Fragments of the Duelo Ribbon from Midrath’s shipwrecks.
Craft the Duelo Ribbon with Tuvalkane and continue the Fable.
Face a trio of duels across haunting seaboard encounters. As is custom, a Duelo can only begin when a challenger steals the Mestre's ribbon and wraps it 'round their head

Recover Navalha and return Mestra Carmo to safer shores.
image.jpeg
New Pact: Duelo
A swordstress strums 'pon splintered grave.
By Mestra's Helm, her curse relayed.
A soul, a self, learned by the blade.
Don the pact of Mestra Carmo. Break Duelo's pledge, and lead mutiny 'cross silvern sea. By dint of blade may you carve out a life of your own.
Courage Arcanic: Flintlock

image.gif
Break the rules of old. Fire a single shot from your flintlock pistol that pierces enemies and explodes on impact.
Spirit Arcanic: Bravada

image.gif
Invoke The Duelo. Boost allies’ highest virtue while slowing enemies in range.
Grace Arcanic: Duo Duelo

image.gif
Her past, his future, as one. Spawn a ghostly clone that matches every attack you make.
Passive: Olho por Olho
Perfect dodge gives attacks a chance to cause enemies to bleed.
Passive: Chamariz
Spawn a decoy after a perfect dodge. Up to three decoys can be spawned.
Complete The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo to acquire the Fragment for the new Duelo Pact.
New Armour: Mestra’s Uniform

image.jpeg
Don the raiments of Mestra Carmo. Brave the surf as Duelo's finest swordstress once did.
Mestra's Helm
Linen adorned by tassel, the mark of a Duelo Mestra.
To what ends did the Blue Ribbon sail Alca's seas? For glory? To lay low those who would defile Alca's brine? It matters not. For just as it passed to her, her Mestra bestowed it to you.
Don the helm and be answered by her phantom crew. But take care, Envoy, lest they drag you to salty tomb...
Mestra's Furbelow
The drab uniform of the Blue Ribbon, rewoven with flounce and flourish.
Only when every swabbie and sailor has gone to bed does this dress come out. Each ribbon a tale of yearning, lovingly stitched by Iridis' light.
Mestra's Breeches
Sturdy-yet-supple boots produced by Duelo leatherworking. Stark against a hem as bright as seafarers sky.
Stamped onto the soles is the Duelo's creed: ""Truth lies in the blade."" A symbol of desire presumed extinguished? Or a chance, a choice to find oneself anew?
Fragments for the Mestra’s Uniform will drop from shipwrecked duels while wearing the Duelo Ribbon.
New Orlick the Bicameral Progression

image.png
By Oro’s eye! Orlick the Bicameral requires aid in rebuilding what was lost. He now seeks greater understanding of Alca… and, of course, more pages for his ever-growing book.
Rank up Orlick’s Sanctuary by completing the sagas found in the Nightfold.
Aid his research and better understand the world of Alca:
Hone your Spectral Sight to improve its range and visibility.
Learn to study Ode, corrupted creatures, and Alca’s wildlife alike.
Improve your ability to charm Alca’s creatures, as some are drawn to the Envoy’s wisdom.
Let Orlick’s studies guide you toward your ancestral heritage.

image.png
Earn his favor as his studies deepen… even if his ramblings do as well. Deepening your bond with Orlick will reveal the Fable of his own past and aid him in writing his biography. Unfinished business keeps this Bicameral busy. Will the Envoy help him beyond the pale?
Orlick has also improved the organization of the Envoy’s many feats and tasks, presenting a renewed Journal for better book-keeping.
New Armour Set: Pensive

image.jpeg
Pensive's Bonnet
The floppy bonnet of the last Pensive.
A wide, woven brim to protect its precious reader's eyes. A cap full of folds where one might tuck their restless quill. The Pensive's Bonnet is worn by Prentice, Sage and Archsage alike; all equals under the Aurem Canus.
Pensive's Cloak
A long stretch of Pensive's greys wrapped into a scholar's cloak.
The College of Pensive's is a drafty old tower, but a Pensive's cloak does more than protect from dusty draft. When unfurled in full, one finds false stitches and hidden pouches sewn into every inch. 'Tis a Pensive's custom to hide unfinished treatises from prying eyes.
One wonders what other secrets may be unveiled to its wearer...
Pensive's Pantaloons
Rarely seen under the Pensive's long and flowing cloak.
A strong-sighted Pensive need not legs."" So said the old Archsage Vanhilde. He thought a scribe's strength lay in their library, a proper Pensive need not traverse the wide world... Though if one only reads what has already been written, how can they write about anything new?
Fragments for the Pensive armour set can be acquired by completing the chapters in Orlick’s Sanctuary.
New Weapon: Navalha

image.jpeg
The slender rapier of the new Mestra.
The swirling flourishes engraved upon its hilt are of the kind once reviled by the Mestra. Weakness etched into that which should be without. 'Twas only when she bore her heart to the world that she learned where true strength lies.
Fragments for the Navalha will drop from completing The Wreck Of Mestra Carmo Fable.
New Weapon: Espadarte

image.jpeg
The curvèd cutlass of the old Mestre.
Espadarte takes its namesake from the swordfish of salty depths. Mestre thought these creatures strong in their silence. No want but hunger in those glassy eyes. Like he, so he thought. Had he never seen the swordfish flocks make their great migrations? Their dance across the currents, their yearning for warmer tides? Perhaps he always knew. Perhaps 'twas this denial that killed him.
Fragments for the Espadarte will drop by completing the Siege of Mirifuir.
Joinery Changes

image.jpeg
Upon Mora, Sapphene and Iridis, find Joineries re-blessed in Tuvalkane’s care.
Joineries have been re-worked to provide a simpler bonus to an Envoy’s equipment: providing additional Virtue Attunement ‘pips’ to your chosen gear.
Reforging your equipment will utilize the same Joineries, simply renamed:
Blessed, Twice Blessed and Thrice Blessed now grant 1, 2, or 3 additional Virtue Attunement ‘pips.’
5 'pips' is the max Virtue Attunement scaling achievable. Equipment with 5 or more ‘pips’ in a specific Virtue will receive a gold-trimmed Virtue Attunement icon to reflect this.
The damage granted by Joineries previously is now a part of the ranking process of a weapon, culminating in +25 damage for each weapon/grip type.
Previous Joinery effects may return in other forms in a future Update.
Rune Changes

image.jpeg
Emblazon your strength in one mighty swing.
Runes have been reworked with a new charge-based system focused on timing, choice, and empowered strikes.
Runes now activate upon a fully charged Heavy Attack, as with a Melee or Casting weapon, or a fully charged shot with a Bow.
Smite a combatant to store a Rune charge, then unleash it at the moment of your choosing.
Runes now manifest as a single attack or for a short duration.
Single-attack Runes consume one charge immediately.
Timed Runes will use a Smite charge over a duration of time.
Rune rank now determines maximum charge capacity, up to 4 charges at max rank.
The Smite charge UI now has segments to indicate how many charges your equipped Rune can hold. Runes that aren’t fully levelled will show shaded-out segments.
‘Elite’ enemies, such as Bannerettes, grant two charges from a Smite.

image.jpeg
The Runes found across Midrath have been reworked to adjust for these sweeping changes. To activate your Rune, let loose a fully charged Heavy Attack with a Flyblades, Melee and Casting weapons, or a fully charged shot with a Bow.
Single Attack Runes
Everflame (and similar Runes): Deal additional Flame damage on a fully charged Heavy Attack.
Archstorm: Deal additional Voltaic damage on a fully charged Heavy Cast.
Alca’s Breath: Deal additional Arcanic damage on a fully charged Shot.
Hurlwind: Deal additional Voltaic damage on a fully charged Heavy Attack.
The Mistgale: Cast a magick gale that deals increased damage and Stagger damage.
Splitbolt: A barrage of spears is summoned, dealing a percentage of weapon damage each.
The Torrent: Summon a volley of arrows that rains from the sky, dealing a percentage of damage.
The Hollowing: Mark a foe for Hollowing. Additional attacks on the marked foe release an explosion that deals damage.
Picktrix: Releases a flock of seeking sprites, dealing a percentage of damage.
Timed Runes
The Durglint: Your shield is set alight for a duration, dealing bonus damage and increasing the power of the next Melee attack (which can occur after the duration of the Rune).
The Flitsmoke: You are cloaked in shadow for a duration. Each stealth kill increases the duration.
Treefell: For a duration, Heavy Attacks charge faster, have longer reach and strike through defences. Treefell duration resets with each enemy slain.
To support these Rune updates, Flyblades no longer have a Perfect Throw window and can instead be fully charged like other grip types.
Perfect Window has been replaced with Headlong.
Oiled Scabbard has been replaced with Helm Gong.
Totems that require a Perfect Window for Flyblades now work with a fully charged Heavy Attack.
New Siege: Mirifuir

image.png
Mirifuir has stood upon the northern cliff's edge for a thousand years. No rise nor fall of Kingdoms, no coming or going of Ode, not even the ever-pounding of the waves could topple it. For its walls were blessed by the Fey Empress in a rare meeting 'twixt her court and the Midrathian Queen, Finngualla...
Infiltrate its hidden depths and ascend to face Ode’n Conductors, battle casters who orchestrate the castle’s defenses and summon their forces. Disrupt their rituals and uncover what lies at the heart of the keep.
Preview: Fallen Ode’n Skytowers

image.png
Remnants of something cast down from the skies long ago... but what if something still stirs within?
An Ode'n Skytower, fallen from grace. In its ruin, corruption flows; a host of creatures from distant stars. They scuttle from ichor basins, squirm from constellation maps. Only a sagely scholar, a pensive sort, could decipher what purpose this tower once served. Perhaps you ought don your cloak...

image.png
A preview of Fallen Ode’n Skytowers arrives in Preludes 14!
Explore fragments of these ruined strongholds, where corruption has taken root.
Face new threats lurking beneath stone and ruin… and perhaps meet our new foe: the Rovgot Wyrm! A corrupted creature that burrows, writhes, and strikes from below. Unpredictable and relentless, it twists through the battlefield in pursuit of its prey.
New Weapon: Cenotaph

image.jpeg
A twisted baneblade dug from grave.
One cannot tell where steel ends and ichor begins. Was Cenotaph buried a curvèd samshir? Or was it Ode'n rot that twisted this blade into so sharp a shape? Both corroded and fortified, wyrm-eaten yet bastioned, this haunted blade is made stronger in its corruption. Much like the Mendicant who wields it. A second life at the cost of the first. A Cenotaph.
Fragments for the Cenotaph will drop from the Rovgot Wyrm.
New Weapon: Silistavf

image.jpeg
A staff gifted to accomplished Ode'n Starcasters.
Within its hollow, the cosmos itself has been rendered in miniature. A pallid imitation. The Silistavf may be used to channel Voltaic magic in place of the stars, if of their influence its wielder is bereft. The burden of such mimicry crests even Ode'n capabilities, a single stavf requiring years of effort to forge.
Fragments for the Silistavf will drop by completing the Siege of Mirifuir.
New Weapon: Lyke-Wake

image.jpeg
The sword of a Mendicant lost. The shield of a love that endures.
You are the fire in my veins
Who lit my path to shore
And in my dreams you call my name
I ask of you, no more
Your faltered husk that lumbers still
Left trapped within your plight
Just as you pledged your heart and will
So shall I be your knight
Fragments for the Lyke-Wake will drop from Mendicant enemies in the Fallen Skytower.
New Spirit Guide: Wanderquill

image.jpeg
So sweetly named by the Envoy Wyldcat. This flighty fellow shall keep your pass-scroll safe in his tiny bag.
The Wanderquill Spirit Guide Skin can be acquired by enabling EnvoyGuard (2-Factor Authentication) on soulframe.com under 'Account Management.'
Votive and Tale Improvements

image.jpeg
Votives and Sparrow’s Tales are now easier to track, accept, and manage across your journey.
Envoys can now accept multiple Tales from World Trees.
Added an “Abandon” button to a Tale’s Journal entry.
Tale paths can now be previewed before accepting the Votive.
Certain bespoke Votives can now be accepted from World Trees.
Tales ending in Dungeons now provide bonus XP upon completion.
Agari found in Dungeons are now included as part of a Tale.
View refresh timers at World Trees.
Journal Improvements

image.jpeg
A flutter of papyrus beneath your fingers, Envoy? The Journal has been rebound with fresh pages to better guide you through Alca’s looming foes, Fables, and Votives.
The Journal can now track multiple Fables, Votives and Tales.
The Journal will track Sieges and Operations waymarked from World Trees.
Spoils acquired from Fables or Mini Quests are now displayed in the Journal.
Added a Foes tab to the Journal, which allows Envoys to track and identify the lore and spoils of Alca’s combatants.
‘Rebound’ the Journal’s visuals to highlight and prioritize readability and activity for ease of use.

image.jpeg
New Votives
Five new Votives have been added to Midrath. Discover them by finding notes hidden throughout Midrath, or begin their bounty from a World Tree, and follow their trail to uncover the stories they leave behind. This is part of our ongoing work to bring more small, discoverable adventures to Alca.
Laid to Rest: One manor has long been burnt to ash. And yet, late denziens linger still. Lay these spirits to rest and bring them peace.
Burning Sage: A copy of “The Forest’s Vast Voices,” has vanished. Help a dear friend of Pensive Rodrich trace the route upon which the work was penned to piece it together anew!
Runner Of The Rose: The Silent Rose beckons the Envoy to reclaim Ode’n goods, begiven under Song. Stake Synsylk and Graphite for Dendric purposes.
The Fungle Lord: The spores of a Fungal Lord loom near the outcropping of Roods. Beckon the call of a local forager, summon this Fungal Lord, and slay it once and for all.
A Birdie Flown: An angered Banneret encloses on Birdies Bog, and the plea of one dreamer leads you on a chase where the trees yet glow.
